On October 30th, 2021, during the 32nd Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology and Ansian Heart Society Congress 2021, RainMed Satellite Meeting at noon was successfully held. At the meeting, experts and scholars discussed the development of caFFR and caIMR coronary artery detection technology and the clinical application of caFFR. Participants pointed out the importance of coronary microcirculation diagnosis and noted that the effective combination of caFFR and caIMR can significantly improve the macro and micro functional diagnosis of myocardial ischemia.

During the meeting, Prof. yunlong Huo introduced the measurement principles and methods of caFFR and caIMR in detail. Prof. Huo noted that the system calculates FFR values based on a three-dimensional (3D) model of the coronary arterial system restored from two angiograms, the TIMI frame counting method to obtain the flow velocity, combined with real-time aortic pressure and the optimized computational fluid dynamics (CFD)method. It has a high consistency of 95.7% and could serve as a valid substitute for FFR. FFR can only measure the epicardial coronary artery fractional flow reserve, and the combination of FFR and IMR can provide a complete functional evaluation from the epicardial coronary artery to the intracardial microcirculation vessels. However, traditional pressure wire-derived IMR is complex to operate and unconvenient for clinical promotion. Therefore, RainMed Medical developed caIMR. Clinical studies of caIMR versus IMR show that caIMR has a high degree of accuracy. Similar to caFFR, caIMR does not require pressure wire and hyperemic agents. It requires no additional surgery and operations and can obtain IMR values in real time. According to Prof. Huo, effective combination of caFFR and caIMR can significantly improve the macro and micro functional diagnosis of myocardial ischemia.

Prof. Jie Deng said that invasive FFR has high requirements for surgeons, and it is difficult for some patients to be effectively measured by invasive FFR. Patients with complex lesions need to be measured multiple times, but caFFR can easily obtain results. Therefore, caFFR provides a good basis for complex high-risk patients.
