On November 20th, 2021, during the 2021 China-ASEAN International Cardiovascular Disease Forum and the 18th Guangxi Coronary Intervention Forum, RainMed Satellite Conference was successfully held. Renowned cardiovascular experts from all over the country held a heated discussion on the research progress, clinical significance and application scenarios of caFFR, a coronary function evaluation indicator based on angiography.

During the meeting, Prof. Ping Li said that the traditional FFR measurement requires the use of pressure guidewire and hyperemic agents, which is not only complicated to operate, but also has contraindication, resulting in the FFR application rate of less than 1% in China. Angiography-derived caFFR is a new method for measuring FFR without a coronary pressure wire or hyperemic agent. It does not need to change the operator's operating habits. FFR values can be measured in real time during surgery, which is safe, efficient, accurate, and simple. Prof. Ping Li said that caFFR can help doctors decide the treatment plan for bifurcated lesions; instruct doctors to deal with non-culprit vessels of STEMI, which can better improve the prognosis compared with only treating culprit vessels; evaluate the prognosis of PCI patients and guide subsequent optimization treatment.

Prof. Hong Wang emphasized the importance of coronary microcirculation diagnosis, and pointed out that among various coronary microvascular function evaluation techniques, IMR has the advantages of being able to be measured in the catheter lab, with high repeatability, and not affected by blood pressure, heart rate, age, gender, etc. caIMR measurements are based on angiography images, which is safe, efficient, simple, accurate and innovative compared to traditional IMR measurements. Prof. Wang has high hopes for the development and application of caIMR. He introduced the latest research progress of caIMR and demonstrated the clinical advantages of combining caIMR with caFFR through relevant cases.

The meeting presented the therapeutic advantages of non-invasive coronary functional evaluation indexes caFFR and caIMR. It provides an opportunity for improving the clinical application rate of coronary functional evaluation and promoting the development of coronary interventional precision medicine.
